I'm Not Born to Be a Film Actor

"In the few films I've made, I found the endless waiting between my scenes to be an unbearable waste of time."
The patience to shoot a scene repeatedly, knowing that one or another take needs to be redone, not because the actors' performance was weak, but because the lighting was wrong or a fly flew in front of the lens – this angelic patience is something I no longer wish to have. Moreover, an actor has very little influence on the quality of the final product. There are bad movies with excellent actors and box-office hits with terrible performers.
Well, I had that experience, and it has most likely led me to consciously want to take more control and direct things to a successful conclusion on my own. After some lucrative leading roles, I've decided to step behind the camera and make my own films independently.

Film "Hotel"

Rose d'Or – Award for the Funniest Contribution in the Film "Hotel"

1982
"Hotel" by Rolf Knie and Max Sieber, who also directs. In May 1982, the burlesque slapstick piece wins the Chaplin Prize for the funniest program at the entertainment competition for the Golden Rose of Montreux.
As the lead actors, the two clowns Rolf Knie and Gaston Häni turn an entire hotel upside down. In the style of old slapstick films, intertitles are repeatedly shown during the fast-paced action and numerous chases through the halls and corridors of a large hotel, explaining the humorous storyline. As a tribute to modern times.

Film "Die Grafen"

"Die Grafen" by Rolf Knie and Max Sieber, who also directs this humorous self-production.

In addition to Rolf Knie and Gaston Häni in the lead roles, many others including Pipo Sosman, Carola Häni, Alfredo Smaldini, Nicolai Mylanek, Pit Krüger, and the legendary First Harmonic Brass Band also perform.

The plot: The gardeners of Schloss Schroffenstein, Rolf and Gaston, are called to the bedside of the old Count. He announces his last will and makes the gardeners his successors, much to the displeasure of the butler, housekeeper, and the Count's two mistresses. They want to thoroughly spoil the new lords' enjoyment of their new position.
